Nighthawks win district game

OAKESDALE - The Oakesdale Nighthawks volleyball team took their undefeated district season into the first round of district playoff volleyball, where they swept the Prescott Tigers in straight sets.

The match was played in Oakesdale and took place on Monday, Oct. 30.

Set scores in the match were all in favor of the Nighthawks: 25-8, 25-15, 25-14.

Payton Davis led the way with five aces, 20 kills and a block for the Nighthawks. Brieyn Henley added 13 digs in the match, and setter Megan Crider had 37 assists.

With the win the Nighthawks will play their district playoff semifinal match on Thursday, Nov. 2. The match will be against DeSales, and will be played in Oakesdale. First serve is set for 6 p.m.

If the Nighthawks defeat the Irish, they will be automatically qualified for the 1B state tournament in Yakima on Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 8-9.

The district championship game will be held at Dayton High School on Saturday, Nov. 4. The championship game will take place at 1 p.m., with two other winner-to-state matches at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
