Pullman Regional Hospital hosts Women's Welness series

Event to discuss healthful aging and avoiding chronic illness

PULLMAN — Pullman Regional Hospital’s Center for Learning and Innovation is hosting an event with a Registered Nurse with Pullman Family Medicine, Shannon Hatley, to discuss healthful aging and avoiding chronic illness through wellness visits on Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 5:30 p.m. at Scusi Pasta, Oak on Main, 337 East Main Street.

The event is a free presentation allowing guests to ask health-related questions and casually converse with Hatley.

Director of External Relations Alison Weigley and Digital Marketing Coordinator Bryce Heuett said that some of the questions frequently asked include how to schedule a visit, if someone qualifies for a service, and what type of information they need to have ahead of a visit.

Appetizers will be provided at no cost, and everyone is welcome to attend the free presentation.

Heuett said that Hatley would speak primarily about annual medicare wellness visits.

“People that are over the age of 65 will definitely benefit from Shannon’s presentation,” Weighley said, adding that even though the event is titled Women’s Wellness, men are welcome to come to the free event.

Pullman Regional Hospital’s Center for Learning and Innovation facilitates the Women’s Wellness monthly series to provide women with facts and information about current healthcare trends in a coffeehouse-style conversation with health professionals from PRH, its network of clinics, Summit Therapy and Health Services, and community health partners.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for community members to ask direct questions of care providers and have that one-on-one time,” Weigley said, adding that the time isn’t limited to a 20 or 30-minute visit.

Weigley said that the last speaker was a general surgeon specializing in minimally invasive surgical techniques, specifically talking about breast surgery, which is something a patient might have after a diagnosis of breast cancer or tumor.
