Halloween events on the Palouse

Various events held across the region

COLFAX - Towns across Whitman County will celebrate Halloween with several spooky, candy-collecting events.

Colfax Chamber of Commerce is hosting Trick or Treat Main Street on Friday, Oct. 27, from 3-5:30 p.m.

Businesses that have signed up to participate in the event at time of press are: Woodbridge Real Estate, First Interstate Bank, Sparrow Glass Windows and Doors, Peace Lutheran Church, Pape Machinery, Pioneer Title Company, 165 Brew, RE/MAX Home and Land, Tick Klock Drug, McGuire, DeWolf, Kragt & Johnson, The Cellar, The Barbershop of Colfax, Nielsen Insurance, and Colfax Firefighters, but many more are expected to join in the festivities.

LACROSSE

In LaCrosse, all activities will occur at the LaCrosse Community Club building, 409 South Main Street.

The LaCrosse Business Group is sponsoring its annual free Hot Dog and Chili Feed from 5-7 p.m. Everyone is invited to hotdogs, chili, cheese, and water donated by McGregor Company. The Bank of Eastern Washington is donating hot chocolate and coffee.

There will be a costume contest, with judging starting at 5:45 p.m. Age groups include 12 years to adult, 9 to 11 years, 6 to 8 years, 3 to 5 years, infant to 2 years, and two or more. Cash prizes are sponsored by LaCrosse Business Group, and Candy and Treat bags by Bank of Eastern Washington.

The LaCrosse Trunk or Treat will occur from 5-7 p.m. Participants can decorate a trunk for Halloween with a theme or have candy bags to give out from the trunk in the LaCrosse Community Club parking lot next to the building on Main Street. There is a prize for the best decorated trunk.

The Halloween carnival, sponsored by the LaCrosse Community Club members, is accessible to kids of all ages and occurs from 7-8:30 p.m.

ROSALIA

In Rosalia, the high school will host a Trunk or Treat from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the high school parking lot, 916 South Josephine Avenue.

Rosalia ASB advisor Jennifer Olson said her student leadership class organizes the event, and there will be a competition between each student group on who can do the best.

"There will be a voting booth, and as people who go through to get their candy, they can vote who has the best one," Olson said, adding that the winner will get a prize.

Also in Rosalia, The Harvest Assembly of God is hosting its annual Harvest night from 4-8 p.m. at the Turnley Building, 520 South Whitman Street.

There will be food available and a variety of activities for the family.

On Friday, Oct. 27, the Rose Garage Brewery in Rosalia hosts a Halloween event for adults only at 5 p.m. at the brewery, located at 613 South Whitman Avenue, Suite B.

There will be a costume contest and live music starting at 8 p.m.

TEKOA

On Tuesday, Oct. 31, Tekoa City Deputy Clerk Donnel Elsworth said there will be a Trunk or Treat at 1:30 p.m. on Crosby Street in Tekoa. "If people want to join, they are more than welcome," Elsworth said.

OAKESDALE

Oakesdale also hosts a Trunk or Treat on Halloween, from 4:30-6:30 p.m., in the park, 206 Steptoe Avenue, or the street between the park and the bus garage.

Participants are invited to bring a pop-up tent, candy, and decorations. Power will not be provided for the decorations.

Oakesdale will also do the annual Halloween parade on Oct. 31, in which students from the school will trick-or-treat through town at local businesses, starting at 1 p.m.

GARFIELD

Garfield's Halloween Trunk or Treat, hosted by the Community of Garfield Association, will occur from 6-8 p.m. on California Street in front of Schauts Marketplace.

PALOUSE

Palouse Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Trunk or Treat on Halloween, Tuesday, Oct. 31, from 4:30-4:45 p.m. by the Skatepark on Whitman Street.

Participants provide their decorated trunks and candy, and prizes will be given to the three best trunks.
