Colfax Bulldog football wins first game of the season

COLFAX – The Colfax Bulldogs finally earned their first victory of the season as they win the battle of the Bulldogs.

Colfax defeated Kettle Falls in Colfax. The game started early, with kick off taking place at 3 p.m.

Colfax exploded for a 40-point first quarter, while allowing 12 from Kettle Falls.

Both teams were held scoreless in the second and fourth quarters. Both teams scored in the first and third quarters, with Colfax winning 56-20.

With the win, head coach Mike Morgan earns his first win of the season in convincing fashion, showing the team trending in the right direction towards the end of the season.

Jaxon Wick started out the scoring with a 20-yard passing touchdown from Seth Lustig, with Colfax leading 8-0 after a successful two-point conversion.

Tanner Senter would score a rushing touchdown for Colfax in the quarter, now leading 16-0.

After allowing a touchdown from Kettle Falls, Wick returned the kick off for a 75 yard touchdown, with Colfax now leading 22-6.

The next 18 points were all thanks to Ryker Reed. He scored four total touchdowns in the game, and helped the Bulldogs lead 40-12 after one quarter.

In the third quarter, Reed scored his final two touchdowns in the game to give Colfax their 56 points, who allowed one touchdown from Kettle Falls in the quarter but won the game 56-20.

In the game Colfax had 14 first downs compared to five from Kettle Falls.

Colfax ran the ball 26 times for 153 yards. Kettle Falls ran the ball 32 times for 158 yards. Colfax had 60 passing yards in the game.

Dillon Gassenberg led Colfax with 62 rushing yards, but Reed had 53 rushing yards for two touchdowns.

In the air, Reed had five receptions for 39 yards and two touchdowns in the game.

The next game for Colfax will be Friday, Oct. 20. The game will be played against the 5-2 Asotin Panthers.

The game will be played in Asotin, and will kick off at 7 p.m.
