Nighthawks won both matches in straight sets
OAKESDALE — The Oakesdale Nighthawks (12-2, 5-0 District) took on the Tekoa-Rosalia Timberwolves (1-4, 1-3 District) Tuesday, Oct. 3, before having another match on Wednesday, Oct 4, against the Dayton Bulldogs (1-7, 0-6 District).
After the two games, the Nighthawks finished their week with a game Thursday, Oct. 5, against the Pomeroy Pirates.
The game against the Timberwolves was played in Tekoa, and the game against the Bulldogs was played in Oakesdale.
The Nighthawks would win both games in straight sets, and only allowed 15 or more points in one set in each game.
The game against the Timberwolves saw the Nighthawks decisively take the victory. Set scores were 25-15, 25-11, 25-4.
On the day, Payton Davis led all attackers with 13 kills. She also had eight aces, tied for the game lead with Bradyn Henley.
Samantha Holling had 24 assists on the day.
In the match against the Bulldogs, Oakesdale held Dayton to just four points in the opening set, taking the 25-4 victory.
The next two sets were a bit closer, but still were in favor of Oakesdale, 25-14, 25-13.
In this game, Davis had 13 aces, 10 kills and four digs. Holling added 16 assists to her seasons total, and Henley had two blocks in the game.
The final game of the week against the Pirates was a short game, with the Nighthawks easily taking the victory.
The Pirates failed to score more than eight points in any of the three sets.
Set scores were all in favor of Oakesdale, 25-6, 25-8, 25-6.
In the game, Holling had 30 assists. Davis also added six aces and 17 kills for the Nighthawks. Bradyn Henley had four blocks in the match.
