Bulldogs dominate in volleyball victory over Cougars

Bulldogs upset Cougars winning streak

COLFAX - A thriving Chewelah Cougars volleyball team, who were on a six-game winning streak, headed down to Colfax to take on the Bulldogs in a top-of-district clash.

The game was played on Thursday, Sept. 28, and was in Colfax.

The game lasted three sets, with the Bulldogs winning all three.

The Cougars came into the match thriving, a top-10 in the RPI standings for the WIAA 2B rankings.

In the game, the Bulldogs immediately jumped on the Cougars, and showed that the Bulldogs record is not indicative of how they play.

With the win, Colfax moved into first place in the district with their 4-0 record. They also currently sit as the 13th best team in state for 2B, according to the RPI standings.

This game had the first set score in favor of the Bulldogs, who won it 25-11, a dominant effort to start the match.

The second set was much of the same, this time the score was 25-10 to Colfax.

The third set was a bit closer than the previous two, however, the Bulldogs still took the set 25-14, giving them the straight-set victory.

In the third set the Bulldogs were running different lineup combinations, and getting others playing time en route to their victory.

In the game, Hailey Demler led the way with 12 kills and 15 digs. Ava Swan had 11 kills and 11 digs.

Setter Lauryn York had 24 assists in the game, but also had four aces and six digs.
