Wildcat volleyball split two home matches

Defeat Timberwolves, lose to Vikings

COLTON — The Colton Wildcats are in the middle of their long home stand, with games Tuesday, Sept. 19, and Thursday, Sept. 21.

The game on Tuesday, Sept. 19, was played against the Tekoa-Rosalia Timberwolves, and the game Thursday, Sept. 21, was played against the Garfield-Palouse (GAR-PAL) Vikings.

The game against the Timberwolves lasted three sets, with the Wildcats sweeping the game.

The first set was the closest of the match, with both sides putting up at least 20 points. The Wildcats, however, would pull away, and win the first set 25-20.

The second set of the match saw Colton make huge strides compared to set one, and win the set 25-16.

The third set was the best defensive set from the Wildcats. They held the Timberwolves to just 12 points in the set, and won by 13 points to sweep the Timberwolves.

In the game, Holly Heitstuman led the way with seven aces, she also had three kills and one block. Clair Moehrle had eight assists on the day for the Wildcats.

The second home game of the week against GAR-PAL was a four-set match, with GAR-PAL winning 3-1 over the Wildcats.

The first set was taken by the Wildcats, with the Vikings winning the next three sets to take the match.

The set that the Wildcats won was a close match, but the Wildcats pulled away for the 25-22 victory.

The second set was GAR-PAL earn their first set win on the day, taking it 25-10, beating the Wildcats by 15 points in the set. The game is now tied 1-1.

In the third set, Colton started to fight back from a disastrous second set, but still could not come away with the victory, and lost the set 25-19.

The fourth set was the same score as the first set, just flipped for GAR-PAL. They took the fourth set 25-22, winning three sets on the day, and defeating the Wildcats.

In this game, both Holly and Kaydee Heitstuman had three aces. Kaydee also had three kills, five digs, and 10 assists. Mere Bell added four blocks on the day for the Wildcats. Kyndra Stout and Moehrle led the kills department for the Wildcats with four each.
