Haunted Palouse postponed until next fall

Planning team seeks those interested in leadership roles for Haunted Palouse 2024

PALOUSE — The Haunted Palouse planning team has postponed its annual haunted house and zombie trail events this year, resuming in 2024, due to needing to fill leadership roles for the event.

Haunted Palouse Coordinator Jamie Gaber said they will strengthen the core group that puts the event on. “We’re going to have a community Halloween celebration,” Gaber said, noting that it will be on Saturday, Oct. 21, and is a pumpkin carving contest titled “Pumpkin Palooza: Carve-tastrophe!”

Categories for the contest include Gremlins, ages 3-12, Teens aged 13-17, and Monsters 18 and older. Judging will be done by a panel who will rate the pumpkins, and prizes will be awarded to the most hilariously carved pumpkins.

Competition pumpkins can be dropped off at the City Hall on Thursday, Oct. 19, from 12-6 p.m. Participants are encouraged to wear their best costumes while dropping off submissions, which Gaber said would be utilized on Oct. 21.

Gaber said the Saturday, Oct. 21 event will have a kid’s zone with games and prizes, a trunk or treat, and more details about the Palouse Caboose and Palouse Brewery having games and activities will be coming.

In the meantime, Gaber said the group will solicit Palouse Community members and the surrounding areas to join in on planning the 2024 Haunted Palouse. “Anyone who loves Halloween and wants to take a leadership position in the Haunted Palouse event,” Gaber said, adding that they can sign up to do so at https://airtable.com/appb4wJU62CF5Qtk2/shrPeUrQWAcMZxSKn.
