Malden City Revival a success

Revival commemorates the restoration of towns since Babb Road Fire

MALDEN - Between 60-70 people attended the second Malden and Pine City Revival on Saturday, Sept. 16.

Event organizer and The Pine Creek Community Restoration Long-Term Recovery Organization spokeswoman Chandelle Frick said the event was catered by Rattling The Pans BBQ of Rosalia.

It commemorates the revival of both the towns of Malden and Pine City, much of which were destroyed in the Babb Road Fire on Sept. 7, 2020.

"Any additional funding goes back to the Fire Department," she said, adding the event was a great way to provide both funding for the department and food for the revival. "It was nice to see community members come together and have conversations with their neighbors."

An obstacle course was set for kids, Frick said, noting Scott McBeth also brought bikes for children to participate.

"It was nice to see tons of kids riding bikes," she said.

The event featured the Palouse River Band, several donations of flowers and a fire extinguisher to give away for the raffle, Frick said.

Frick said there was Corn Hole to play and a fire truck; the fire chief let youth sound the horn.

"We're trying to build a stronger community people are proud to be a part of," Frick said.
