Colfax Volleyball drop first game of season

Dogs took a win in the first set, down three

COLFAX — The Colfax Bulldogs lost their season opening game of the season, an away non-conference game at Shadle Park High School against the Shadle Park Highlanders Tuesday, Sept. 5.

Shadle Park (1-0) defeated the Bulldogs (0-1) in four sets.

The Bulldogs took the first set 25-23, then lost the next three sets to lose. The second set score was 15-25, the third was 22-25, and the fourth and final set was 20-25 for the Highlanders.

On the day, Ava Swan had 13 kills to go along with 10 digs in the game. She also had three blocks to lead the way for the Bulldogs. Hailey Demler had 13 kills as well to tie for most kills on the team with Swan. Demler also added 17 digs on the day.

Gracie Bofto had 15 digs on the day, and Hope Fulfs led the way with 20 digs.

Setter Lauryn York had 34 assists and eight digs for Colfax.

After an away game in Spangle against Upper Columbia Academy, the Bulldogs will host their first home game of the season Thursday, Sept. 14, in Colfax. The game will be against Clarkston, with first serve set for 6:30 p.m.

The two teams met last season, Oct. 15, with the Bulldogs winning in three straight sets. Colfax won 25-16, 25-16, 25-20 last year against the Bantams.

This season, the Bantams lost their opening game of the season, a home non-conference game against Cheney High School in a five set thriller.
