Bulldogs compete in first Cross Country meet of season

COLFAX — The Josh Wright Memorial Jamboree tournament, which took place Tuesday, Sept. 5, was the first cross country track meet of the season for the Colfax Bulldogs.

The tournament is named after Josh Wright, a runner who was on the Northwest Christian team before passing away in 2010. The jamboree has since been named in his honor.

The course features a one mile loop, ran twice, with a mud area on the course.

On the day, there was times for the two mile race from both boys and girls divisions.

In the girls division, three runners from Colfax competed. Senior Destiny Nelson finished 10th overall with a time of 20:34. Sophomore Paige Eads finished 15th with a run of 25:21, and sophomore Queenie Mayer finished 17th overall with a run of 25:55. The winner of the girls division was Allie Robertson, a sophomore from Northwest Christian, she ran a time of 15:20.

On the boys side, there were two Bulldog runners out of the 31 who competed. Sophomore Brandon Pingle finished 25th with a run of 21:06, and sophomore Keagan Mackleit finished 30th after running a 28:58 race.

The overall winner for the boys division was Mitchell Hanegan, a junior from Liberty (Spangle). He won the race after running a time of 12:31.
