Kaitlyn Hough commits to play volleyball at Linfield

Hough prepares with high school and club teams

ST. JOHN - Before the 2023 St. John-Endicott (SJE) volleyball fall season can get underway, one of their players is already making headlines in her community.

Kaitlyn Hough announced that she has committed to play volleyball at Linfield University in 2024, after she graduates from SJE high school this upcoming spring.

Hough started playing volleyball when she was in sixth grade, about age 12. Playing in college was always her goal.

"I always kind of knew that I would want to play college volleyball but wasn't super serious about it until freshman year when I decided to start playing club volleyball," Hough said.

She plays club volleyball for College Preparatory Volleyball Academy (CPA) in Spokane. She has played for them for two years, and has played three years of club volleyball. She will also play for CPA this year as well.

Regarding SJE, Hough loves her team, along with the many memories they share.

"My favorite part about school volleyball is making really great memories with all my friends," Hough said.

Hough also went on to say that as a player and person, her strengths are always having a positive mindset, as well as cheering on her teammates.

This year, Hough said she is looking forward to seeing her personal growth, as well as team growth from last season to this season, as well as seeing how much better the team is come November than they are in August.

In terms of why she chose Linfield, it was more than just volleyball that sold her.

"I chose Linfield because when I visited the campus the vibe of campus and McMinville felt like home to me. Not to mention, the athletic facilities at Linfield are amazing. They also have a really great exercise program which is very important to me as I am interested in pursuing a career in athletic training," Hough said.
