William Taylor Henry

William Taylor Henry passed away Saturday, August 19, 2023, in Spokane at the age of 87. He was born April 15, 1936, in Endicott, Wash., to Byron Taylor (Bo) Henry and Mary Pickrell Henry at his grandparents' home.

Bill grew up in Colfax and graduated from Colfax High School in 1954. He was in the US Army from 1954 to 1956, serving mostly in Germany. Bill attended Washington State University and graduated from Eastern Washington University in 1963.

Bill and Nancy Heglar were married in St. John in 1958. They became the parents of Robert, Reed, and Renee. As his children grew, Bill supported them in their various activities including scouting, sports, and skiing. Weekend skiing was a special family time. Bill grew up spending summers at Hayden Lake with his extended family and this has continued with his own children and grandchildren at what is known as Henry Point.

Bill began his career as a stockbroker in 1963. He retired in 2012 after a long and fulfilling career. He was a long-time member of El Katif Shrine and served as Potentate in 1979. He also served on the Shrine Hospital Board of Governors for many years. He was a member of the Central Lions Club and the Hayden Lake Country Club.

He and Nancy spent many wonderful years traveling the world. They visited over one hundred countries and all seven continents. Later in life Bill loved driving his Corvette on the racetrack and flying his Cessna 182. He met many other old pilots that he enjoyed times with. Among other favorite activities over the years were trapshooting and hunting with friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and brother, D. John Henry. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, his children, Robert (Monica) Henry, Reed Henry, and Renee Henry Pedersen; his grandchildren, Blake Henry, Grant Henry, Ella Henry and Nicole Pedersen; his sister, Nancy (Mark) Brandon, and his brother, Byron (Sue) Henry.

There will be a memorial celebration on Saturday, September 9, at 2:30 p.m., at the Rockwood South Hill Event Center, 2903 E. 25th Ave, in Spokane.
