Sporting activities set for Saturday's Lentil Festival

PULLMAN — A 5K race, 3-on-3 basketball tournament, adult softball tournament and a pickle ball tournament are all set to take place Saturday, August 19, for Pullman’s Lentil Festival.

The annual Tase T. Lentil 5K fun run, which is hosted by Pullman Parks and Recreation, as well as support from Gritman Medical Center. The race begins at 7:30 a.m. Saturday.

The event will start at the Pullman Depot Parking Lot. The race will be a 3.1 mile course on roads and trails through the WSU community, as well as some campus spots. Runners and walkers are welcome to race and enjoy an early morning activity.

There will also be a 3-on-3 basketball tournament taking place. This event is also sponsored by Pullman Parks and Rec and Gritman Medical Center.

The tournament is for anyone entering grades 3-12. This tournament is going to be held at the Spring Street parking lot near Reaney Park in Pullman.

Pullman Parks and Rec is also hosting a Co-Ed Softball Tournament. The tournament takes place on Saturday at the City Playfields. Teams registered are guaranteed three games. There will be round play followed by an elimination style tournament to determine the winner.

Ending the sporting side of the Lentil Fest activities will be the tennis and pickle ball tournament. The 2023 Circles of Caring Tennis and Pickle ball tournament with men’s and women’s singles and doubles brackets, as well as mixed doubles play.

The Lentil Fest has all sporting fans can want with these four tournaments and competitions to keep the fun going all day long.
