Hennigars place at International Rodeo

Hennigar boys place 8th in competitive rodeo

COLFAX — Trace and Trent Hennigar have placed eighth in the National High School Rodeo Association (NHSRA) finals rodeo.

The rodeo took place in Gillette, Wyoming and began Wednesday, July 12, and ran all the way through Saturday, July 22.

To be eligible for the rodeo, participants have to be top-4 team for team roping in their state, they then would get to go to Nationals.

This competition was nothing new to Trace and Trent, they have been at the top of team roping for their ages and divisions for a few years.

“This is their 2nd year making it, they have been team roping together for quite some time. This is Trace’s senior year. This year, they made it to the short round, and ended up placing eight in the world,” said mother Shelby Hennigar.

Shelby went on to say that there were 183 teams in the team roping event that competed. Trace and Trent beat out 175 teams en route to their eighth place finish at the event.

“I’m very proud, they worked very hard for this. Their goal from state finals was to be top in the state, and they accomplished that goal,” Shelby said.

As mentioned earlier, Trace finished his senior year at Colfax high school. He has been working as a horse trainer in Canada currently, and has a scholarship to Walla Walla Community College waiting for him this upcoming season. Trent will be a junior in high school for the upcoming season.
