Webb's Slough announces policy changes

ST. JOHN — With the help of hundreds of volunteers, race officials, multiple Whitman County EMS volunteers, community support, and passionate race teams, St. John, Wash. has been able to put on and hold 50 successful Jet Sprint Boat Races in St. John.

With the ever-growing number of fans and race teams, St. John and Webb’s Slough have made changes and addressed safety issues to allow safety of all who are attending the sprint boat races.

The changes are made in cooperation and direction from the Whitman County Sheriff’s Department, which implement venue changes starting with the upcoming race on Saturday, August 26. There will also be an increase in support from the Sheriff Deputies throughout the event week.

ATV Policy, Including: side-by-sides, 4-wheelers, golf carts will be allowed for the following purposes: Traveling between downtown and camping areas, shuttling elderly and disabled from camping areas to main spectator gate/ticket office.

There will be no “cruising” or “joy riding” allowed.

All ATV’s must be parked by 8 p.m., and no dirt bikes or pit bikes will be allowed.

There also will be only approved Slough Crew ATV’s allowed for shuttle service inside the spectator seating areas.

Additional Considerations:

All street laws do apply at Webb’s Slough in St. John. After the races Saturday, walk to the Awards Ceremony and live band concert. Individuals must have a valid drivers license to operate a motor vehicle, with no vehicle ever exceeding the speed limit of 10 MPH.

No drinking and driving will be allowed ever.
