Pullman Mayoral candidates speak on election standings

PULLMAN — The votes are flooding in for the primary election, with Francis Benjamin taking the lead for Pullman mayor with 987 votes, Deb McNeil coming in second at 599, and Eileen Macoll at 355.

Registered voters come to a total of 12,638, with a voter turnout of 16.36%. At the time of press, August 1, an estimated 325 ballots are left to count on Wednesday, August 2.

Benjamin stated that he appreciates the support of the Pullman community during this primary election and has enjoyed meeting the passionate people he’s connected with during the campaign. “I look forward to meeting more,” Benjamin said, adding that the projects he is working to advance will take the community coming together to finish them.

Benjamin encourages the community to look at his campaign website, so they can further continue to build the community together.

McNeil stated that she is excited for the community to have some choices, and being surrounded by family and friends on Election night, she continues to look forward to moving in the election campaigning process.

McNeil is excited to be around the community and canvassing to interact with the community as they move forward.

“I’m so excited to give Pullman an option, and I hope everyone votes by November 8,” McNeil said.

Macoll stated that she would see what the rest of the numbers say.
