Dahmen Barn hosts digital artist

UNIONTOWN — Throughout July, the Dahmen Barn will host artist David Hoyt’s digital artwork, themed around local landscapes, flowers, animals, and insects.

Hoyt has been a graphic designer, illustrator, web designer, and art director while maintaining his freelance business, Red Anvil Design Works.

Having served as an educator, Hoyt has presented graphic design issues, served as a high school curriculum advisor, and taught at the college level.

Hoyt is currently concentrating on creating digital artwork, with his focus on nature subjects, as well as railroad themes.

The Barn has sold Hoyt’s cards and canvas prints since 2022, which the Barn reports have been popular with customers.

Diverse professional organizations have recognized Hoyt for his graphic design excellence.

Hoyt has volunteered at the Pullman Arts Commission, Pullman Civic Trust, Whitman County Blue Ribbon Task Committee, Palouse Clearwater Environmental Institute, Pullman Depot Heritage Center, and Friends of the WSU Museum of Art.

In his pastime, Hoyt plays music and has performed in local bands for several decades. He has toured professionally with Wylie and the Wild West.

In 2013 Hoyt received the Mayor’s Award for Excellence in Art from the City of Pullman and Pullman Chamber of Commerce.
