May 3, 1939 - June 8, 2023

Sally Kay Gallo (Sheehan), 84, passed away peacefully in her home on June 8, 2023 in St. John, Washington. Sally was born May 3, 1939 to Raymond Joe Sheehan and Kay Gould Sheehan in Spokane, Washington. Her mother later remarried to Dr. Kermit Petersen and together they had her brother Steve Petersen. Sally graduated in 1957 from Holy Names Academy in Spokane, Washington and later earned her Master's Degree. Sally met her husband, William Arthur Gallo Jr, in Washington D.C at hiking club. When William asked for her hand in marriage he "simply just asked" Sally. The two married in Maryland on September 19, 1962. William was an electrician for NASA and served in the military. After his passing in 1992 Sally returned to Newport, Washington to be closer to family. Sally was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Sally spoke fondly of her parents and recalled memories of fishing with her Dad and learning how to whistle from him. She told stories about baking with her Mom and favored her Mom's lemon meringue pie. In Sally's final days she spoke about her desire to visit them both.

Sally greatly enjoyed spending time with her grandparents. She spent her summers at their farm in Trestle Creek where she remembers catching a "huge" whitefish. She also loved helping her Grandpa work at their tavern in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Sally loved to travel and shared stories of her time in Russia where she found her favorite flower, the forget me not. A man pointed to it with his foot during her visit and it has been her favorite ever since. Sally was a phenomenal artist. She claimed to have inherited her artistic abilities from her Grandmother Addie. She made friends with artists during her travels and had friends all over the world.

Lastly, Sally loved animals. Her favorite animal was a cat. When she spoke about animals she smiled ear to ear. She was passionate about gardening, Jesus, art, and reading. She loved her brother Steve and spent her last years in his care in St. John, Washington where she was also cared for by Dannette Bailey.

Sally is survived by her brother Steven Petersen (Dannette) and his children Krisann Hutchinson (Ryan), Nathan Petersen (Rachael), Kayla Howard (Marc), and Raelynn Loken (Adam) and children.

She is predeceased in death by her paternal grandparents (Gladdys (Sheehan) and Harry Krebs), maternal grandparents (Jack and Addie Gould) parents (Ray Sheehan, Kay and Kermit Petersen) and husband William Gallo Jr.
