Man sustains burns, airlifted to Spokane

COLFAX — Whitman County Deputies and EMS personnel responded to a single-vehicle accident on Storment Road near Winona South Road Thursday, July 6.
According to reports, initial findings show that the driver Gary Walters, 78, of Endicott, drove the vehicle off the roadway into an adjacent field, where the vehicle caught on fire.
Reports say Walters sustained severe burns to his arms, legs, and body.
Walters was airlifted from the scene to Sacred Heart ER, in Spokane, and is currently in stable condition.
The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
