Fire grows, continues to burn near Rock Lake
Roads were closed, residents faced evacuation

ST. JOHN - A wildfire near Rock Lake Road began at 2:33 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, burning approximately 1000 to 2000 acres.
Whitman County 911 Dispatcher Susan Waltz confirmed that the fire is still going today, Thursday, July 13, but roads are reopened.
"Bureau of Land Management is still on scene, and so is some of the Whitman County Fire Department," she said.
According to reports, SR 23 Rock Lake Road to Glorfield Road was closed down, and Ewan faced evacuations.
Waltz stated that most agencies in Whitman County responded last night, and the bureau arrived.
