Lane closures and lane shifts expected on SR 26

Construction project estimated at $11.15 million

COLFAX — Due to the construction of climbing lanes, single-lane closures started July 5 on SR 26 from Dusty to Colfax.

Flaggers will direct travelers through the work zone in both directions, and drivers should expect intermittent lane closure and lane shifts.

The $11.15 million project creates three truck climbing or passing lanes for vehicles traveling along SR 26 between Dusty and Colfax.

Shamrock Paving has been working on the project, and they are adding one climbing lane westbound and two eastbound on SR 26.

The rural farm-to-market route is used heavily by Washington State University students traveling between Pullman and western Washington.

Currently, there are no existing passing lanes, which causes a hold-up in travel behind slow-moving trucks.

The project started in June 2022 and will continue through September 2023.
