Newbern claims ‘the voices’ told him to steal the vehicle

COLFAX — The Whitman County Sheriff’s Office (WSCO) and Washington State Patrol (WSP) responded to communication advising of a stolen white 2013 Dodge Ram pickup truck on Wednesday, June 28, north of Colfax.
A Shelton man, Anthony Newbern, 35, was cooperative in his arrest and admitted to stealing the vehicle from Dayton due to the voices in his head telling him to do so. Newbern also appeared to be under the influence of methamphetamine during his arrest. No weapons were found on his person during his arrest.
