ROSALIA - The Rosalia pool has undergone several new upgrades due to closing early last year and is up and running this year, confirmed Pool Manager Piper Dickenson.

Dickenson stated they could get the upgrades from donations and leftover funds from closing last year.

"We decided to put it back into the pool this year," Dickenson said of the funds left from closing early.

She further explained that because of the early closure, they had reduced the price of their season passes for the community.

Upgrades include changing from a set of stairs to a complete set of corner stairs, which Dickenson said was an excellent upgrade for those who practiced aerobics.

"We plan on having aerobics classes but don't have the details yet," she said.

They have also added a kid's basketball hoop, which will always be out, and a volleyball set up that they will put out occasionally.

In addition, she explained that updates included a new diving board, staff uniforms, lifeguard equipment, and two tables with umbrellas on the deck for the public to enjoy.

New pool toys are also available; she shared that they bought more pool noodles and balls, mermaid diving sticks, and an assortment of the ocean and pool-themed diving gear.

Dickenson stated that the park is thankful to Austin Goyke for putting in a horseshoe pit for his eagle scout community service.

She added that the park and pool have also added free wifi for everybody that wants to come down and use it, which she said will work for kids who have a phone and can only use it on wifi.

The Rosalia pool opens on June 13 with a bring-your-own picnic to the park, where they'll be doing games and giving away free otter pops.

The pool will host adult swimming only on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Saturday, June 24, they'll host a midnight swim from 9 p.m. to midnight, including food.

"It's normally a five-dollar buy-in, which buys you dinner and coming into the pool," she said.

"We want to thank the community for their involvement and for supporting us," Dickenson said.

In addition to enhancing the pool for the public, Dickenson stated that they have offered the school for students to use if they want for physical education.

The Rosalia pool has updated its phone number to (509)-523-3305.
