PULLMAN – A traveling nurse in Whitman County who illegally diverted and used prescription medications has had her registered nursing license suspension lifted by the state Department of Health.
Stephanie R. Koski, also known as “Stephanie R. Loomis,” had her nursing license reinstated May10, agency records show. She first obtained a nursing license on Aug. 14, 2002.
In June 2022, the California Board of Registered Nursing revoked her nursing license for unprofessional conduct after finding she diverted and used prescription drugs not intended for her records show. The California board also found she made “incorrect, inconsistent or unintelligible entries in hospital, patient, or other records” relating to controlled substances.
After her suspension in California, Koski relocated and was “issued a credential” to practice nursing in Washington state, even though her license (No. 00146564) had been suspended, Department of Health Records show. Her ability to practice nursing in Washington state was then suspended.
On May 10, the state Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission reinstated her nursing license in Washington state, provided she contact and actively participate in a substance-use monitoring program by May 20, records show.
To continue as a nurse, she is required to undergo drug testing and monitoring for a minimum of one year, up to a maximum of five years, as determined by program administrators.
Should she fail to remain in the program or test positive for drugs and be expelled, her nursing license will be suspended again, preventing her from practicing nursing in Washington state.
Koski signed the reinstatement agreement May 4, record show.
The state reinstated her license in a Whitman County action, records show, but failed to say where she was working.
