WSDOT waits for fuel spill soil samples

Drilling needs to be done before soil testing can begin

 


COLFAX — Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is working with Fulcrum to test the soil under US195, three miles south of Colfax, due to a fuel spill on Jan. 15.

WSDOT Communications Manager Ryan Overton explained that they still need to drill for the soil to test it.

In a Daily Bulletin brief, the Gazette reported that WSDOT was waiting for soil samples to return to see what work they needed to do under the roadway.

The previous reports were inaccurate. At this time, WSDOT is arranging for the drill to get soil samples to see the level of contamination.
