Work on US195 planned through end of May

COLFAX — The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) started working on Highway 195 near the rest stop the first of the month.

WSDOT Communications Manager Ryan Overton stated that this is an ongoing project they started last year called Portland Cement Concrete (PCCP), or Concrete Panel Replacement.

Monday, May 1 through Thursday, May 11, they worked on replacing the concrete panels from the Horn school rest area up through the junction with state route 271 on US195.

Overton noted Monday through Thursday, their work included installing rumble strips and permanent striping.

He explained that from Monday, May 15, through Thursday, May 17, WSDOT would be working on permanent striping that week.

Overton explained the last week of May that they would be doing minor bridge work near Thornton.

“There’s a bump there to grind,” Overton said, noting that they would be settling the bump and grinding it down to make it smoother.
