COLFAX — Whitman County District Court reported the following criminal conviction sentences from April 11 – April 13

April 11

• Teressa Halverson, was found guilty of theft in the 3rd degree. Therefore, the defendant has a deferred sentence of 12 months, 60 days in jail, 58 suspended. 2 days of jail is convertible to 16 hours community service. Defendant must have no criminal violations of law, and attend a Theft Prevention Course within 45 days and file proof of timely enrollment and completion. Defendant will have a restitution hearting to be set if necessary.

April 13

• Serena Trimble, was found guilty of theft in the 3rd degree. Therwfore, the defendant is sentenced to a deferred sentence for 12 months on the condition of 60 days of jail, 59 suspended, and a fine of $500, $500 suspended. One day of jail is convertible to 12 hours community service to be arranged by the probation department and completed by the defendant within 60 days. The defendant has a total of $343 in fines, $300 of this total is converted to community service at the rate of $16 an hour which must be completed by Aug, 31, 2023 with proof of completion provided to the probation department. Defendant has supervised probation for 12 months, unsupervised for last 6 months if all essential requirements of the sentence have been completed and if payment of fines is completed. Defendant must attend a theft prevention course, and begin any recommended treatment or education within 45 days with filed proof of enrollment and completion.

• Tysen Richardson, was found guilty of driving under the influence. Therefore the defendant is sentenced to 364 days of jail, 363 suspended, and a fine of $1,000. Unsuspended jail of one day may be converted to 15 days. Defendant has a total of $1,000 in fines to be credited at the rate of $16 an hour and to be approved in advance by the probation office, to be paid by March 31, 2025. Community service must be completed by Aug. 31, 2023. Supervised probation for 24 months, unsupervised for last 12 months if all essential requirements of the sentence have been completed. Defendant must obtain an expanded alcohol assessment from a Washington State approved agency and file a copy by May, 31, 2023. Defendant must attend DUI Victim Impact Panel within 3 months. Defendant shall be granted a dollar-for-dollar credit for any out-of-pocket expenses paid toward evaluation, treatment and/or VIP.

April 14

• Ricardo Chavez, was found guilty of negligent driving in the first degree. Therefore, the defendant is sentenced to 90 days of jail, 89 suspended, and a fine of $500, $500 suspended. Defendant must serve 1 day in jail, and a total of $391.95 in fines due by March 31, 2025. Defendant may perform community service in lieu of $300 of fines to be credited at the rate of $16 an hour and approved in advance by the probation department. Completed by Aug, 31, 2023. Defendant has supervised probation for 24 months, unsupervised for last 12 months if all essential requirements of the sentence have been completed. Defendant must obtain an expanded alcohol assessment from a Washington State approved agency and file a copy by May, 31, 2023. Begin any recommended substance use disorder or treatment within 45 days with filed proof of timely enrollment and completion. Attend DUI Victim Impat Panel within 3 months. Defendant shall perform 8 hours of community service. Defendant may earn up to 5 hours community service credit for any time he spends to prepare and deliver any speech to his team, another team or organization on the University of Idaho or WSU campus.
