Duane was born on December 2, 1934, and was raised in Colfax, Washington.

As a young man, he traveled and saw the world while serving his country in the US Navy. He often talked about his time on the aircraft carrier and the things he had seen, all which gave him an even greater appreciation for America.

Upon his return from serving, he earned his degree from Eastern Washington University, and became a CPA. He practiced his profession primarily in Spokane with a local firm, and ultimately opened his own practice late in his life. He and his clients had a mutual loyalty; his very first cli...
