A graveside service for Pat will be Wednesday, April 19th, at 2:00 pm in the Colfax Cemetery followed immediately by a reception at the Colfax Golf Course. Friends and Family are invited to attend either or both functions.

Pat was the only child of Jack and Maggie Moore Shere. She was born October 15, 1930 in Colfax, Washington and grew up in Hay; where she attended school through the 8th grade. Pat graduated from LaCrosse High School in 1948 and then attended Washington State University in Pullman for a year.

In 1950 she married John Hayfield of LaCrosse and they moved to Baker, Oregon. They had two children; Debra Ann and John Phil. Pat worked for two new doctors in Baker and set up their offices and bookkeeping for them as well as being an assistant. Later she worked as a cashier for a meat packing plant in Baker. They moved to Colfax in 1957 where John hauled grain for the Colfax Grain Growers. Pat worked as a cashier for Washington Water Power and later worked for 16 years as the secretary of the Colfax Chamber of Commerce and the Whitman County Farm Bureau.

In 1967 Pat married Harold Hartman from Garfield; where he taught school and was the grade school principal. Pat was a 40-year member of PEO, the Plymouth Congregational Church, active in FISH (Friends In Service to Humanity), avid golfer at the Colfax Golf Course, a member of the Women's Bowling Association and 2 Bridge Clubs. She was also an active mother for Campfire Girls and a den mother for Boy Scouts. She and her husband were members of the Cougar Club and attended football and basketball games. They spent many vacations in Hawaii and the Oregon Coast. The last two years Pat has lived at The Courtyard in Colfax which she thoroughly enjoyed. She loved playing BINGO and was quite competitive at it; always keeping track of her wins and losses. They often indulged her by letting her call out her favorite, "B-2".

Pat is survived by her children; Debi (Phil) Hergert, Colfax, and John (Amy) Hayfield of Richland; by four grandsons, Brian (Brianna) Rhodes, Steve (Brooke) Rhodes, Rob Hayfield and Riley Hayfield; and by 6 great-grandchildren.
