Colfax boys wrangle Broncos

Colfax — The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague boy’s baseball team struggled on the diamond last week, losing to Colfax.

The Colfax Bulldogs Varsity Baseball team roped in two wins, 10-0 and 12-2, against Lind-Ritzville on Wednesday, March 29.

In Colfax, the Bulldogs had 20 hits in the opener. Colfax pitcher J.P. Wigen only allowed 4 hits and 1 walk. He also posted 9 strikeouts before being relieved by Braden Plummer.

Jayce Kelley was on the mound for Ritzville; he was relieved by J. Harder.

During the game, Zach Klein, Chase Galbreath, Kelly, and Brix Curtis all had hits for the Broncos.

Meanwhile, Dawson Lobdell, J.J. Bodey, Alton Burt, J.D. Peterson, Alex Mortenson, and Cody Inderrieden each had hits for the Bulldogs.

Colfax’s Peterson took over the mound in the second game, striking out 8 Broncos while only walking 1 before turning the mound over to Plummer.

Galbreath, Kelly, Harder, and Brock Kinch all took turns on the mound for the Broncos in the losing effort.

Kinch, Cooper Miller, Brody Boness, and Klein each had hits for the Broncos.

For Colfax, Peterson, Mason Gilchrist, Mortensen, Body, Plummer, Inderrieden, Wigen, Lobdell and Erik Christensen all had hits.

The local boys are off this week for spring break but return to the mound Friday, April 7, at Brewster (Big Bend Community College), where they will face the Brewster Bears.
