Colfax Bulldogs softball start winning steak

Varsity softball is three-For-three in wins this season

COLFAX - The Bulldogs baseball Softball team faced two opponents this past week in Clarkston and Chewelah.

The final points tallied Colfax at 13 points against Clarkston with 9 at their first game for the season on Tuesday, March 21.

Clarkston tangled up the game in the first inning with an error that gave Clarkston one run.

However, by the third inning, the Bulldogs would only allow for a bit of headway by Clarkston and finished the inning with three runs.

KeiLena Nelson singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run, an error scored one run for the Bulldogs, and Devan Becker singled on a 0-1 count, scoring another run.

By the fourth inning, Colfax had six runs and led with Nelson, Trinity Swearingen, Harley Hennigar, Becker, and Brenna Gilchrist, all finishing with RBIs.

Delaney Imler brought home the win for Colfax with her pitching, giving 9 runs on 7 hits over seven innings and striking out 3.

The Bulldogs had 16 hits at the end of the day. Imler, Karmen Akkeson, Becker, Nelson, Ava Swan, Swearingen, and Hennigar all had multiple hits.

Imler went three-for-five at the plate and led Colfax in hits.

The Bulldogs defeated Chewelah twice in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 25.

Colfax won with a final score of 7-1, scoring seven runs in the fourth inning that morning.

Hennigar, Ella Jones, Gilchrist, and Akkeson drove in runs leading to victory.

Imler and Akkeson each had multiple hits, and Imler led with a three-for-four at the plate to lead the bulldogs in hits.

Their last and final game for the day gained heat in the fifth inning when the Bulldogs scored 11 runs.

Ava Swan, Jessica Patnote, Nelson, and Imler all led with singles around the bases. Booth and Hennigar brought in runs with doubles. Closing the fifth inning, a triple from Akkeson and a fielder's choice by Gilchrist brought home the win.

In addition to the rounding of runs, Booth, Hennigar, Swan, Patnode, Gilchrist, and Akkeson also brought home RBIs in the fifth inning.

The Bulldogs went undefeated with a final score of 18-3, totaling 15 hits, zero errors, and several stolen bases.

Swan, Imler, Nelson, Patnode, and Booth had multiple hits for the team.

Swan went three-for-five at the plate to lead Colfax in varsity hits.

The Bulldogs will play against Lind-Ritzville on Wednesday, March 29, at 2 p.m.
