COLFAX — Whitman County District Court reported the following criminal conviction sentences from Feb 28 to March 8:

Feb. 28

• Ronald E. Davis, was found guilty of theft in the 3rd degree. Therefore, the court authorizes a deferred sentence for 12 months on the condition of 60 days in jail, 59 suspended, and a fine of $500, with $500 suspended. Defendant must serve a total of 1 day in jail. 1 day in jail is convertible to 24 hours community service. Defendant has a total of $343 in fines. $300 of this total is converted to community service at the rate of $16 an hour, to be completed by Aug. 31, 2023. Proof of completion must be provided to the probation department. Supervised probation for 24 months, unsupervised for last 6 months if all essential requirements have been completed. Attend a theft prevention course within 45 days and file proof of enrollment and completion. Defendant may receive community service credit for time spent using his professional skills for no-for-profit organization(s) and/or people in need. He may also be credited any out-of-pocket expense.

• Ashton A. Sieveke, was found guilty minor in possession of alcohol. Therefore the court authorizes a deferred sentence for 24 months on the conditions of 30 days of jail, 29 suspended. Must serve a day in jail, convertible to 12 hours community service. Supervised probation for 24 months, unsupervised for last 6 months if all essential requirements have been completed. Obtain an alcohol/drug evaluation from Washington State approved agency within 45 days and file proof of timely enrollment and completion. Do not use or possess alcohol, or marijuana. Court will consider earlier termination of probation and deferred sentence if defendant earns that opportunity.

• Jack C. Larsen, was found guilty of reckless driving. Therefore the defendant is sentenced to 364 days of jail, 363 suspended, and fine of $1,000, $500 suspended. Defendant must serve 1 day in jail, which can be converted to 12 hours community service. Defendant has a total of $1,232 due by Jan. 31, 2024. Defendant may serve community service in lieu of $500 to be credited at the rate of $16 an hour, approved by the probation department and completed by Aug. 31, 2023. Defendant must have supervised probation for 24 months, unsupervised for last 12 months if all essential requirements of the sentence have been completed. Must obtain an expanded alcohol assessment by March, 17, 2023. Attend DUI Victim Impact Panel within 30 days with filed proof of enrollment. Defendant may earn up to 5 hours community service credit by attending any “Drug Court” or “DUI Court.” Defendant may petition for early termination of probation after 12 months and successful completion of all terms.

• Nathaniel Cochrane, was found guilty of DUI. Therefore the defendant is sentence to 364 days of jail with 363 days suspended, and a fine of $990.50. Must serve 1 day in jail that can be converted to 15 days of EHM, which may be done out of county at defendant’s expense. Total fines of $1,456.46 due by Jan. 31, 2025. Supervised probation for 24 months, unsupervised probation for last 12 months if all essential requirements of the sentence have been completed. Obtain an expanded alcohol assessment with filed copy by April, 14, 2023. Attend DUI Victim impact Panel within 45 days and file proof of timely enrollment and completion. Defendant may earn up to 5 hours community service credit by attending any “Drug Court” or “DUI Court.” Defendant shall be granted a dollar-for-dollar credit applied to fine for any out-of-pocket expenses associated with evaluation, treatment or VIP. Defendant may petition for early termination of probation after 12 months and after successful completion of all terms of sentence.

• Dillan Cooper, was found guilty of negligent driving first degree, therefore the defendant is sentenced to 90 days of jail, 89 suspended, and a fine of $1,000, $750 suspended. Defendant must serve 1 day in jail, which can be converted to 12 hours community service which may be done out of county at defendant’s expense. Jail shall be arranged by the probation department and completed by defendant within 90 days. Total fines of $1,006.49 due by Jan. 31, 2025. Defendant may perform community service in lieu of $250 of tines to be credited at the rate of $16 an hour and completed by Aug. 31, 2023. Supervised probation for 24 months, unsupervised for last 12 months if all essential requirements have been completed. Obtain an expanded alcohol assessment by April, 14, 2023. Begin treatment or education within 45 days, with filed proof. Attend DUI Victim Impact Panel within 3 months. Defendant may earn up to 5 hours community service credit by attending any “Drug Court” or “DUI Court.” Defendant shall be granted a dollar-for-dollar credit applied to fine for any out-of-pocket expenses associated with evaluation, treatment or VIP. Defendant may petition for early termination of probation after 12 months and after successful completion of all terms of sentence.
