COLFAX — Whitman County District Court reported the following criminal conviction sentences from Feb. 23:

Feb. 23

• Paul Riley Hurt, was found guilty of DUI. Therefore the defendant is sentenced t o 364 days of jail, with 363 suspended, and a fine of $1,000. Defendant must serve 1 day in jail. Unsuspended jail of 1 day may be converted to 15 days of EHM. Defendant has a fines totaling $1,411.03 due by Jan. 31, 2025. Defendant may perform community service in lieu of $1,000 to be credited at the rate of $16 an hour approved by the probation department, and completed by Aug. 31, 2023. Defendant will not drive, no criminal violations, and comply with the rules and requirements of the Department of Licensing. Supervised probation for 24 months, unsupervised for last 12 months if all requirements have been completed. May be granted dollar-for-dollar credit for any out-of-pocket expenses. Defendant shall pay $40 restitution to Jackson Dorsett. Defendant may petition for early termination of probation if all terms and conditions are completed. May possess alcohol for the purpose of employment.

• Craig C. Linger, was found guilt of assault in the 4th. Therefore the defendant is sentenced to 364 days of jail, 364 suspended. Defendant must have no violations of law, and supervised probation for 24 months.

• Kaitlyn Carson, was found guilty of minor operating a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol. Therefore the defendant is sentenced to 90 days of jail, 89 days suspended, and a fine of $500 with $500 suspended. Defendant must serve 1 day in jail, which may be converted to 12 hours community service. The defendant has total fines of $343 due by Aug. 31, 2023. Defendant may perform community service in lieu of $300 to be credited at $16 an hour, approved by the probation department, and community service must be completed by May, 31, 2023. Supervised probation for 12 months, and obtain an expanded alcohol assessment filed by March, 17, 2023. Must begin DUI Victim Impact Panel within 30 days. Defendant may complete up to 6 hours community service by attending any therapeutic court, particularly DUI or drug court.

• Stephan Zusman, was found guilt of theft in the 3rd. Therefore, the defendant is sentenced to 30 days of jail, 29 suspended, and a fine of $500, $500 suspended. Must serve 1 day in jail, convertible to 12 hours community servicce. Total fines of $533.29, $190.29 restitution to Walmart. $300 of the total is converted to community service at the rate of $16 an hour, to be completed by Aug. 31, 2023. Supervised probation for 12 months, unsupervised for last 6 months if requirements are completed. Must attend a theft prevention course within 30 days, with filed proof of enrollement and completion to be compelted by Dec. 31, 2023.

• William Eaton, was found guilty of trespass in 1st degree. Therefore, the defendant is sentenced to 30 days of jail, 29 suspended, and a fine of $500, $500 suspended. Must serve 1 day in jail with credit for 1 day served. Total fines of $343, $300 of this converted to community service at the rate of $16 an hour to be completed by Aug. 31, 2023. Supervised probation for 12 months, unsupervised probation for last 6 months if requirements are completed.
