Crane rebuilt at the county landfill

COLFAX – On Tuesday, Feb. 21, Whitman County Commissioner Public Works Director Mark Storey shared with the board during their meeting that Public Works were able to get the crane rebuilt at the landfill on President's Day.

"The whole base was wearing out, so we bought a new base so we had to hire a crane company, crew workers, mechanics, and our guys volunteered to come in on President's day," Storey said.

Storey explained that the base the crane has to sit on needed to be replaced, because it was installed in 2015.

"It's much needed major maintenance on the crane," Storey said, adding that they hired a private crane service on the base unit of the crane.
