Colfax Bulldogs off to state

SPOKANE VALLEY — The Colfax girls basketball continued its undefeated season and punched its ticket to state after a 59-14 win against Liberty Bell in a 2B Girls District 6/7 Crossover game on Feb. 18.

The Lady Bulldogs dominated the 2B District 7 tournament, going 3-0 in the bracket and winning by an average score of 31 points.

This dominance carried against Liberty Bell. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 30-2 lead against the Mountain Lions and, by halftime, were leading 44-8.

Liberty Bell broke double-digits in the third quarter, but Colfax had, by that point, scored 50 points for the 19th-straight game, spelling the end for the undermatched Mountain Lions, and, ultimately, a 45-point win for Colfax.

Jaisha Gibb and Brynn McGaughy paced the Bulldogs with 16 points each. Gibb added three assists, three steals and a rebound to her point tally while McGaughy added five rebounds, an assist and a block.

The Lady Bulldogs will play in the Regional round of the WIAA 2B State Tournament at 6 p.m. on Feb. 25 against Mabton at Cheney High School in Cheney.
