COLFAX—Three levies were passed in a special election Colton, Oakesdale, and Lamont School Districts.

The Colton School District Proposition No. 1 is a replacement educational programs and operation levy to finance education programs and operation expenses. The levy’s assessed value is $2.26/$1000, and is at an amount of $398,497 for the 2024 collection year. It passed with a 75.7% vote of yes, with 243 votes in favor out of a total of 321 votes.

The levy will be used to replace an existing educational programs and operation levy that will expire at the end of 2023. The levy will continue to fund education programs and operations that are not fully funded by the State, including teachers, support staff, athletics, CTE programming, extracurricular activities, nutrition, maintenance and operations, transportation and special education.

Oakesdale School District Proposition No. 1 is an educational programs and operation levy used to provide tuition-free preschool, independent food services, curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities, technology supplements, and elective courses. The levy’s assessed valued is $3.68/$1000, and is estimated at an amount of $667,000 for the 2024-2027 collection years. The levy passed with 204 votes in favor, at 66.45%, with 307 votes total.

The Lamont School District Prop. 1 is a replacement education programs and operation levy to finance education programs and operations expenses. The levy’s assessed value is $2.59/$1000 and is estimated at a value of $132,000 for the 2024 collection year, and an assessed value of $2.53/$1000 and estimated value of $132,000 for the 2025 collection year. The levy passed with 25 votes in favor, at 55.56%, out of a total of 45 votes.
