New Colfax coffee shop to have grand opening

February 2, 2023

COLFAX — Locals Josh Beggs and Katie Broncheau are opening SHOTZ, a new coffee shop located at 638 North Main Street here in Colfax on Feb. 6.

The Colfax Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a ribbon cutting for the Grand opening ceremony to celebrate the opening Monday, Feb. 6 at 11 a.m., with hours being from 5:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Broncheau has been a barista in Colfax for 9 years, and has a passion for making coffee.

“This is a local couple who chose to start their business in Colfax, this is what supporting ‘Local’ means,” Chamber of Commerce President Toni Jorgenson, said.

Broncheau is most excited to start her business to see all the customers again, “and all the girls I get to work with are a lot of fun, so just being able to see everyone again,” she said.

“We will have Thomas Hammer coffee, and then we’ll have grab and go food,” Broncheau said, adding that SHOTZ will start off as a drive through, but Broncheau explained that she is looking to eventually open up a foyer for customers to sit in.

Broncheau has had the dream of starting a coffee shop for around 5 years, but she explained that it’s really just recently come into focus.

“We started looking for places around 2 years ago, and this opportunity came up and I jumped on it.” Broncheau said.

Broncheau came up with an original name, because she liked the name SHOTZ in coffee, “got to looking around, and I thought it was catchy and would be a perfect name,” she said.

Hours will be Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“Come summer I hope to be open later,” Broncheau added.
