Colton wins top-four game after second-half push by Oakesdale

COLTON - Washington's first-ranked girls 1B basketball team, the Colton Wildcats, faced 1B Southeast rival and fourth-ranked Oakesdale Nighthawks on Jan. 20 at home. The Wildcats survived a second-half push from the Nighthawks enroute to a 56-50 win.

Marilla Hockett hit a 3-pointer to give Oakesdale a 3-0 lead to start the game, which was immediately answered by Kyndra Stout to tie the game.

Colton hit back-to-back 3-pointers to take a 9-3 lead, a lead that they would only continue to build until Oakesdale called a timeout with 3:55 left in the opening quarter, down 13-4. The timeout, in th...
