NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on Tuesday, the 14th of February, 2023, in the County of Whitman, State of Washington, a Special Election will be held for the purpose of voting on the adoption or rejection of local proposition(s) listed below:

Voters will only be entitled to vote on propositions within their districts and only those districts listed are included in this Special Election.

Voter registration deadlines:

8 days before Election Day: To register by mail or online, your application must be received no later than February 6, 2023 by 4:30 pm. Any changes that need to be made to your voter registration after February 6th must be done in person at the Whitman County Elections Department.

Election Day: Visit the local Whitman County Elections Department at 304 N. Main St, Colfax to register or update your address in person no later than 8 pm. on Election Day.

The Service Centers and deposit sites for this election will be open and remain open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. of said election day (unless at the hour of closing there are any voters in the Service Center or Staffed Deposit Site desiring to vote and who are qualified to participate therein, and who have not been able to since appearing at the Service Center, in which event said center shall be kept open reasonably long enough after the hour of closing to allow those present at the time of closing to vote). The hour of closing is announced by a service worker by declaring in a loud and clear voice “The Service Center is closed.” In addition to ballot drop off boxes, voting machines for the visually, hearing, or physically impaired are available at the service center and staffed deposit site. Vote-by-mail ballots, pursuant to WAC 434-250-080, needing replaced for lost or damaged ballots, can be obtained through the Whitman County Auditor, 304 N. NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETINGS:

Pursuant to WAC 434-335-320 the Whitman County Elections Department will be holding the Logic and Accuracy Test on January 31, 2022 at 9:00 am in the Elections office. This is a pretest of the Whitman County’s tabulation system.

The Canvassing Board of Whitman County, pursuant to RCW 29A.60.160, will hold public meetings at the dates and times listed below. The meetings of the Canvassing Board are open, public meetings under the applicable provisions of Chapter 42.30 RCW and each meeting shall be continued until the activity for which the meeting is held has been completed.

CLOSE OUT PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing will be held by the Town of Garfield, town council at town hall on February 8th, 2023 at 7:00 pm.

The purpose of the public hearing is to review final Asset Management Plan funded by the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG).

The Palouse-Rock Lake Conservation District adopted Resolution #47 at their January 19, 2023 Board Meeting in order to hold an election for a board member position on the Palouse-Rock Lake Conservation District Board. The election will be held on March 7, 2023 at the Palouse-Rock Lake Conservation District Building at 3 N Park, in St. John, WA from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Interested candidates must be registered voters residing in the Palouse-Rock Lake Conservation District, and may be required to own land or operate a farm. The filing deadline for candidates to file their candidate required information is February 4, 2023. Registered voters who reside within the conservation district boundary are eligible to vote. Supervisors serve without compensation but, are eligible to be reimbursed for appropriate expenses. The Board of Supervisors provide guidance and direction, as well as set policy for the conservation district. Election procedures are available at the district office or at the State Conservation Commission at scc.wa.gov/elections. Absentee ballots are available upon request for eligible voters by contacting the district office prior to February 14, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. All ballots must be returned to the polling location prior to the Election Day.

An upcoming board seat on the Palouse-Rock Lake Conservation District is available for appointment by the Washington State Conservation Commission. Conservation district board supervisors are public officials who serve without compensation and set policy and direction for the conservation district. An applicant must be a registered voter in Washington State, and may be required to own land or operate a farm. Applicants for appointed positions do not have to live with the district to apply. Whitman Conservation District

WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of the Whitman Conservation District (“District”) operates under the laws of the STate of Washington applicable to conservation districts.

WHEREAS the District is governed by a five-member board, as set out in RCW Chapter 89.08 and WAS Section 135-110.

It is RESOLVED that a poll-site election for an open position on the District board of Supervisors will be held on March 9th from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at 601 N. Main Street, Colfax, WA 99111.

The elected position whose term is expiring in May 18, 2023 is currently held by Amy McKay.

Interested candidates must be registered voters who reside within the boundaries of the District. Candidates may be required to be landowners or operators of a farm, depending on the current composition of the District board of supervisors. The filing deadline for candidates to file their candidate required information is Friday, February 3rd, 2023. Interested candidates must file their candidate required information at Whitman Conservation District at 601 N. Main Street, Colfax, WA 99111.

Eligible voters are registered voters who reside within the boundaries of the District. The last day and time that voters can request ballots from the District is Monday, February 16th, 2023. Ballots can be requested from Whitman Conservation District located at 601 N. Main Street, Colfax, WA 99111. Or by calling the office at 509-288-4644. If a voter is returning a ballot by mail, the voter must account for the time it will take for the ballot to be returned to the district by mail.

A conservation district supervisor is a public official who serves without compensation and who sets policy and direction for the conservation district. The published election procedures can be viewed at the District office and are available from the Washington State Conservation Commision.
