PRH hosts Free Science Night

Families are invited to the Palouse Discover Science Center

PULLMAN—Pullman Regional Hospital’s Center for Learning and Innovation is sponsoring a free Family Science Night Thursday, Jan. 19, 6 p.m. at Palouse Discovery Center.

Palouse Discovery Science Center’s EveryBODY healthy exhibit is a lifelike hospital experience that provides an opportunity for children to dress up as doctors and care providers to learn about the body. The exhibit offers a life-six game of Operation sponsored by the PRH Center for Learning and Innovation, and was designed and built in partnership with the Washington State University American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) student group. Children are able to learn about the body’s organs and functions, and test out their hand-eye coordination skills.

Attendees can meet Pediatrician at Palouse Pediatrics, Dr. Johnathan Lee. Lee earned his undergraduate degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the California Institute of Technology before attending medical school at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center. He is an engineer and medical doctor, and serves as the Medical Innovation Director for PRH Center for Learning and Innovation.

The center also hosts rotating exhibits and learning spaces in addition to the EveryBODY Healthy exhibit, MoneyVille currency exploration, Nature loop outdoor trail, self-directed Art Studio, and Nanotechnology exhibit. In addition to rotating exhibits, the Science Center also hosts themed camps, classes, and activities throughout the year for children of all ages.

Palouse Discovery Science Center is a membership-based admission system, but day passes are also available for purchase, as well as group and party rentals.

Established in 1999, the Palouse Discovery Science Center is a nonprofit organization that seeks to connect children of all ages to their families, communities, and world beyond through interactive STEAM exploration. There are nine members on the board, Becky Highfill as the chair. The Center is run by Director, Meri Joswiak. Visit palousescience.net to learn more about the Center.
