NWS reports freezing rain and ice

Moderate to heavy snow expected to impact holiday driving conditions

COLFAX—The National Weather Service reports dangerously cold temperature, snow at times, and freezing rain and ice by this weekend.

The NWS reports that another round of moderate to heavy snow is expected Friday into Saturday. This system will bring in warmer temperatures, transitioning into freezing rain on the evening of Christmas Eve through the holiday weekend.

The NWS suggests taking caution by covering all exposed skin, keeping jumper cables and emergency packs in cars, as well as letting faucets drip to prevent frozen pipes, and staying indoors if possible.

Reports show a confidence in increase for warmer and wet weather conditions next week with a potential threat for flooding.
