Tekoa-Rosalia wins three straight

Timberwolves boys begin season with win streak

ROSALIA – After a 2021-22 season that saw the Timberwolves score 70 points twice the whole season, the Tekoa-Rosalia boys basketball team has hit that total three straight times to begin its season 3-0. It's the best start for the team since the 2018-19 season, where the team went 2-1.

The first game on the Timberwolves' schedule was an away game on Nov. 29 against the Columbia Lions of Hunters, WA.

Tekoa-Rosalia had already put the game out of reach by halftime, going up 40-20 after the break, but continued to build – outscoring Columbia 33-19 in the second half and finishing with a 73-39 win.

Junior Isaac Bone led the way with a 17-point, 10-rebound, 11-assist triple double to go with seven steals and two blocks. Senior Braxton French had an 18-point, 12-rebound double-double and senior Morgun Martin contributed 18 points, eight rebounds, five assists and four steals.

Soap Lake visited Rosalia on Dec. 2 for the second game of the season and the home-opener for the Timberwolves.

Soap Lake was able to keep pace with Tekoa-Rosalia throughout the first half, trailing 34-30 at halftime in the game.

The offense of the Timberwolves exploded in the third quarter, outscoring the Eagles 27-17 to go up by 14 heading into the final frame, where they added two more points to the league for the 76-60 final.

Bone, French and Martin all showed up again for Tekoa-Rosalia. Bone had 16 points, seven rebounds, six assists, two steals and a block, Martin had 24 points, three rebounds, five assists and a steal and French had 22 points, 13 rebounds, an assist and a block in the win.

Game 3 in the Timberwolves' win streak came Dec. 3 against the Valley Christian Panthers in Spokane.

Quarter-by-quarter scores weren't available, but Tekoa-Rosalia ended up winning in a dominant fashion yet again, winning 72-35.

The three-headed dragon of Martin, French and Bone showed out yet again, but was joined by a fourth major contributor, senior Jadin Campbell.

Campbell had 23 points, six rebounds, nine steals and an assist. Martin had 14 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals. French had 14 points, ten rebounds and an assist and Bone had 10 points, nine rebounds, eight assists, seven steals and a block.

It's yet to be seen if this success can be sustained the whole season, but the three games and offensive output of the Timberwolves has made the team a squad to watch for in boys 1B basketball.

Tekoa-Rosalia played against Upper Columbia Academy in Spangle, WA on Dec. 6. Results and stats weren't available at press time.
