Colfax Winterfest deemed a success

COLFAX - On Saturday Dec. 3 Colfax hosted the town's annual Winterfest celebration with several vendors, live music, and tours of the Christmas decorated Perkin's House.

"I thought it was a success," Colfax Chamber of Commerce Director, Molly Keogh said, noting that businesses told her there were a lot of people in the stores, and the vendors made sales, "the music was really fun."

The Perkin's House was all decked out with Christmas cheer from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. as people wandered the house looking at the decorations, and the large Christmas tree in the front sitting area. A harpist played for the guests as they sipped their ciders, and ate cookies.

Stooky and the Stockyard Boys, who last performed at St. Ignatius Friday, Sept. 23, and Owen McGervey performed on Spring Street, as next to them Whitman Hospital Medical Center handed out free hot cocoa. Attendees could purchase Churros, Oreo or cinnamon flavored, as they listened to the music.

"I would love to thank everyone who contributed to Winterfest," Keogh said.

Santa was at the library from 1 to 3 p.m., and the building was packed with children waiting to tell him what they wanted for Christmas.

At the end of the day everyone gathered along main street to watch the lighted parade which included Santa, a holiday decorated horse, and the Grinch. Candy was thrown for children to gather, and soon after followed the fireworks show.
