WHMC Laboratory receives accreditation

Laboratory is one of over 8,000 accredited facilities

COLFAX — Whitman Hospital and Medical Clinics (WHMC), here in Colfax has been awarded accreditation by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) after the results of a recent on-site inspection.

“I am extremely pleased with the success of this years inspection. It is a reflection of Laboratory Manager Mary Graden and her staff’s continued work of monitoring laboratory quality and making sure our patients are safe,” WHMC’s Medical Director Isaac Grindeland, MD, said.

Grindeland was advised of this national recognition and congratulated for the excellence of the services being provided by WHMC.

WHMC’s Laboratory is one of more than 8,000 CAP-accredited facilities worldwide.

The CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program began in the early 1960s, and is recognized by the U.S. federal government as equal to, or more stringent than the government’s inspection program.

The accreditation process is designed to ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients. Inspectors examine the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years during the process of inspection. CAP inspectors examine laboratory staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety prgram and record, as well as overall management.

“I am continually impressed by our laboratory’s hard work and diligence. Their ability to consistently achieve CAP Accreditation is an outstanding accomplishment,” WHMC’s Cheif Executive Officer, Hank Hanigan, said.
