The Cellar opening this month

Pairings Fine Art and Wine to open new retail extension

COLFAX —Local business owner of Pairings Fine Art and Wine Kimberly DeHart will be opening a new retail extension The Cellar located at 116 North Main Street.

DeHart is hoping to open the Cellar Thursday, Nov. 10, hours will be 3-7 p.m.

The Cellar is a wine shop, DeHart explained, unlike her wine bar Pairings Fine Art and wine it will not have wine tasting, “It will also have specialty teas, salami, and other types of food,” DeHart said, noting that the wine will be from all over the world. “The wine bar at Pairings only sells glasses of Pacific Northwest wine.”

DeHart explained that she is starting the shop extension to her business, because she cannot add selling the wine to Pairings wine bar, “there’s no room for that,” she said, “this will be more of a retail shop. You can come in and buy a bottle.”

Pairings and the Cellar are going to be a cross market, she stated, customers can come to Pairings for wine tasting, and to view art. If attendees like the wine they can then visit the Cellar to buy a bottle, “We really want to take advantage that there is a connection to Pairing Fine Art and Wine and the retail shop,” DeHart said, noting that it is not competition, “Just something different and unique from the wine bar.”

DeHart wants her Pairings Fine Art and Wine customers to be able to try the wine, and then if they like it come to the Cellar and buy it, “same with the gourmet cheeses,” she said, “if you try the cheese and fall in love you can come buy it at the Cellar.”

The Cellar has a couple of wines from the PNW, DeHart noted “they’re in a higher price range, and it’s not affordable for the wine bar to sell them by the glass,” she said “There will still be wines from the PNW, but the types of wine that you would find in a gourmet shop.”

DeHart explained that as she opens there will also be wines from Portuguese, Rose’ from Walla Walla, and Australian wine, as well as Sparkling “there are some wines that are low sulfate that will come from California,” she added, noting that her distributor is delivering more this week.

DeHart stated that she is excited to start the new extension to her business, and looks forward to sharing wines from everywhere.
