Pullman man sentenced to life

COLFAX — In Whitman County Superior Court Friday, Oct. 28 Douglas Martin, 61, of Pullman was sentenced to life by Superior Court Judge Gary Libey for raping a girl for 10 years.

Reports say Pullman police officer Heidi Lambley arrested Martin on May 7, 2022 after hearing the victim recount her story describing years of sexual abuse since the age of five. Martin would make the victim watch pornography, and photograph the sexual assaults.

According to the Superior court warrant of commitment Martin has been convicted of the crimes rape of a child in the first degree, dealing in depictions of a minor engage in sexually explicit conduct in the second degree, and rape of a child in the first degree. Martin was ordered by the court to serve 160 months in the state institution. Reports say credit is given for 122 days served as of Oct. 31, 2022 in the Whitman County Jail, and time after until received at the state facility.

Martin pleaded guilty in September, and will be paying the victim $3,000 in restitution, and will be eligible for parole in 13 years. He has a bond of $250,000 or $25,000 cash.
