Program Representative-Payroll: This position is responsible for compiling, processing and preparing the County payroll program with speed and accuracy, exercising confidentiality. Creates and submits monthly, quarterly and annual reports relating to payroll, continuously seeking better and modern ways to report digitally. To communicate with Human Resources and Department Liaisons regarding updated information on employees’ wages and positions and other program issues as they arise. Works directly with accounting software vendor as needed. Training county accounting liaisons on an individual or group basis. Managing and auditing the taxable fringe benefits while working with accounts payable to ensure Internal Revenue Service (IRS) compliance. This position will also be cross-trained in the general accounts payable functions for the County, and serve as a back-up staff member for this process. Under the direction of the Chief Finance Administrator, this position is responsible for the bi-monthly County payroll and supports a variety of duties in the Administrative Services Department. Work involves participation in the training of all County departmental Accounting Liaisons and internal Administrative Services Department support personnel, scheduling work, and overseeing the general accomplishment of the work. Work involves contact with other County departments, department employees and department liaisons. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Requires a High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Two (2) years of progressively responsible accounting, bookkeeping, clerical experience, and strong computer skills, OR Substituting on a month for month basis any combination of experience, education, and training which would provide the level of knowledge and ability required. This classification is characterized by highly skilled arc and acetylene welding work in the construction, modification, maintenance, and repair of equipment.
