Council discusses roof, road

COLFAX— The City Council discussed City Hall roof repairs and Morton Street upgrades during its July 5 meeting.

City Hall’s roof leaks 2-3 times a year, officials said.

“I thought the bid was around $125,000-$126,000, roughly in that range,” Mayor James Retzer said. “We’re going to move forward with the roof repair and use some of America Rescue Plan Funds.”

Concerning Morton Street, Public Works Director Matt Hammer asked whether or not the sewer and waterlines should be updated.

“Matt is applying for a grant to replace that road,” Retzer told council members. “The council said they would like him to do more research on that.”

Retzer explained that if the grant does not come through then the replacement will not happen.
