SHOT FILLED TRAMP

Oakesdale Chicken Thief Has a Narrow Escape.

Hugh Boyle's Neck, Head, and Back Bespattered With Shot -- Bound Over to Superior Court

Deputy Green Smith returned from Oakesdale Monday having in charge Hugh Boyle, who had been bound over to the superior court on a charge of burglary. Boyle felt sore and had good reason for, it the whole of his back being speckled with shot. Dr. Ferguson on Monday picked out over seventy of the leaden pellets from Boyle's flesh, and it is doubtful if he got all of them.

KIWAWA CLUB

The first regular meeting of the Kiwana Club of Colfax was held Tuesday noon in the Maple with 45 members present. The Kiwana songs were led by D. Milgard for the first thirty minutes. He then introduced the new president, Dr. Floyd Tifft who made a neat speech. He referred to the Kiwana club as a spoke towards the hub of the wheel namely the Commercial club.

Mentor Art Dawald

Art Dawald, outstanding Colfax high school basketball mentor, was paid a glowing tribute along with three other hush school coaches of the state at the Seattle Cougar club banquet held recently at the New Washington hotel, Seattle. A handsome trophy was presented to Coach Dawald in tribute of his winning team.

Mentor Dawald was back at the Annual Cage Jamboree for the second time as winner of the State B meet.

Lone girl in CHS stage band soon seen as 'one of the guys'

Before winding up their first-ever concert last Thursday, members of the Colfax high school stage band took a break while Director Jim Straghan explained some of the background of the band. Straughan began to explain about the work of "these boys," stopped, and reworded his credit ti state "these boys and this one girl."

The girl is Colleen Patterson who played the concert in the saxophone section.

Colfax pastors' group begins

children's medical cost fund

In hopes of helping sick children and families in need of assistance with medical bills, Colfax Ministerial Association has created the Colfax Children's Fund.

The fund, which officially came into existence last month, was created to alleviate extreme financial burdens on families having children who have illnesses that are very expensive to treat and cure.

Colton, SJ kick off festival season

Dating back to the 1930s, the former Colton Stock Show has become the annual Colton Uniontown Fair. The latest installment will be Friday.

Livestock, petting animals, shop exhibits, arts and crafts and food will take over the Colton school grounds for the one-day event. School buses will be moved out of the bus shef and cattle will move in.
